A new Welsh Government campaign, launched on Monday, 15 February 2021, is encouraging new groups of people resident in Wales to make their voices heard in upcoming elections.

The national democratic renewal communications campaign has gone live: https://gov.wales/calling-all-new-voters-now-perfect-time-use-your-voice-shape-wales-you-want. Most of the campaign is digital and therefore highly targeted towards young people, qualifying foreign citizens and typically disengaged. The campaign will point people towards the campaign page (https://gov.wales/use-your-views) where they will be able to explore different ways to put their views to good use. This campaign is more than encouraging people to vote in Senedd Elections, it's about encouraging people to actively engage to make positive change. The initial campaign burst will be out ahead of the May elections, but will we build on the campaign to support the diversity in democracy work, and awareness raising ahead of the 2022 local government elections.

Educational resources

There are now a range of resources to support young people in formal and non-formal settings available hosted on Hwb. The Welsh Government has worked collaboratively with partner organisations to ensure all these resources can be found in one place: https://hwb.gov.wales/repository/discovery?sort=recent&catalogs=4027db3f-d3b9-453b-9f41-e5b1ef34ab6c&categories=fe3bc4d7-b3f1-4e76-aa3e-2f4ffbdf7362&strict=1

Additional resources are also available via the Electoral Commission, Welcome to your vote | Electoral Commission, targeted at first time young voters with information on registering, how to vote (post, proxy, in person) etc as well as useful signposts for those in need of additional support.
