We are thrilled to announce that Young Wales Volunteer, Zjack, has been selected to join the 5th Eurochild Children’s Council, representing the voices of children and young people from Wales and across the UK on a European stage. 

Zjack takes over from fellow Young Wales volunteer, Arthur, who has successfully completed his two-year term on the Council. During his time as a member, Arthur helped ensure that the views and experiences of children and young people were heard by decision-makers across Europe. We would like to thank him for his commitment and the positive contribution he made throughout his term. 

As a member of the new Eurochild Children’s Council, Zjack will work alongside young representatives from across Europe to champion children's rights and help shape issues that matter most to young people. 

Later this month, Zjack will travel to Dublin for his first Council meeting, where he will meet fellow members and begin his exciting new role. The packed programme includes: 

  • Team-building activities and opportunities to get to know other Council members and the Eurochild team

  • Training sessions on child participation and the European Union 

  • A meeting with the Irish Ombudsman for Children 

  • A meeting with the Eurochild Management Board 

  • Two children's rights events co-organised by Eurochild and Ireland's Children's Rights Alliance, including the Break the Cycle Conference. 

This important opportunity will allow Zjack to develop new skills, build international connections and ensure that the voices of children and young people from Wales and the UK are represented in discussions that shape the future of children's rights across Europe. 

We wish Zjack every success as he begins this exciting journey. We know he will be a fantastic ambassador and advocate for children and young people, representing Wales, the UK and Europe with enthusiasm, confidence and passion.
