Children in Wales is pleased to announce the launch of a new project, Brain Power: Pŵer yr Ymennydd, a new initiative funded by Welsh Government to ensure neurodivergent young people’s voices are heard and valued in decision-making.  

After successfully securing Welsh Government funding, Children in Wales will be establishing a new advisory group for neurodivergent young people aged 11 to 25 from across Wales. The project will create safe, inclusive and supportive opportunities for young people to share their lived experiences and influence the policies, services and support that affect their lives.  

What is the project about?

This project brings together neurodivergent young people and Welsh Government to explore what works well, what does not, and what needs to change. Through creative, tailored and accessible workshops, young people will be supported to share their ideas, views and experiences in ways that work best for them.  

The advisory group will focus on meaningful participation, ensuring that young people feel listened to, respected and empowered to take part at their own pace.  

Why get involved?  

By joining the advisory group, neurodivergent young people will have the opportunity to:  

  • Connect with others and build relationships  
  • Share their experiences and ideas to help influence decisions that matter to them  
  • Take part in creative, inclusive and accessible workshops  
  • Engage in ways that suit their needs, preferences and communication styles  
  • Enjoy activities that are supportive, social and fun
Who can take part?  

The project is open to neurodivergent young people aged 11 to 25 who live in Wales and want to help shape future support and services.  

When and where?  

To introduce the project, Children in Wales will be holding a taster session on Saturday 27th June 2026 10am-3pm at Spark, Maindy Rd, Cardiff CF24 4HQ    

This session will give young people the opportunity to meet the team, learn more about the project and decide whether they would like to be involved.
