North Wales Community Support Hubs – building personal and community resilience against the effects of poverty

WEBINAR POVERTY SERIES: Session 6

North Wales Community Support Hubs – building personal and community resilience against the effects of poverty

For this webinar Children in Wales worked alongside North Wales' Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Lisa Goodier, Lead Manager for Protect, explained how they have established a series of small community pilot projects or 'hubs', which were implemented during the pandemic, to help break the cycle of generational poverty, over time.

Lisa explained how, by using existing service providers in communities, the hubs now have a network of around 140 third sector organisations and have been a ‘one-stop-shop’ physically and virtually for over 20,000 residents in the last six months.  She also highlighted how these hubs are different and how other communities can establish their own to combat poverty.

Speaker:

Lisa Goodier is Lead Manager for Protect for the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales. She has a background working with the DWP, HM Prison Service, local authority and the private and voluntary sectors.
