Our Summer 2026 issue shines a spotlight on Article 20 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), exploring the rights of children who cannot live with their own families to receive appropriate alternative care, alongside the protection and support they need to thrive.

At Children in Wales, we know that meaningful, lasting change for care experienced children and young people happens when everyone works together, children's voices are heard and acted upon, and their rights are placed at the heart of decision-making. For more than 30 years, our work has been guided by a simple but vital belief: that the UNCRC should be a lived reality for every child in Wales.

This edition reflects the breadth of work taking place across our membership to make that vision a reality. Through practical examples, professional insight, personal reflection and lived experience, the magazine explores what it takes to support care experienced children and young people to thrive. The stories shared are inspiring, thought-provoking and demonstrate what can be achieved when children's rights are respected, protected and fulfilled.

We are incredibly grateful to all our members who have contributed to this issue, showcasing the dedication, compassion and innovation that underpin their work with care experienced children and young people. We are proud to share these stories and celebrate the difference you are making to children's rights across Wales.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Delyth Jewell MS, Deputy Minister for Social Care, Mental Health and Women’s Health, and to Clearcare Solutions and Techsol for their valued contributions to this edition.
