Development Officer (Children Act – C&YP Strategy Project) - Children in Wales

This post is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards enhancing awareness, knowledge and understanding amongst children, young people and professionals of the legislative changes being introduced by the Children (Abolition of Defence of Reasonable Punishment) (Wales) Act 2020.

You will have the necessary passion, drive and a solid commitment to promoting children’s rights as the foundation for your work, and a firm commitment to the principles and intention of the new legislation. The programme of work will focus on three central objectives

• Develop an engagement plan in consultation with relevant stakeholders including young people.

• Develop relevant resources for schools and other organisations, on the changes in law, embedded within the context of children’s rights and complimentary legislative developments.

• Develop an awareness-raising plan to help promote the resources and cascade information about the legislative changes The post holder will actively engage with a range of professionals and young people in Wales to inform the content of the strategy and the development of resources.

The role will be based in Cardiff 21 hours per week (part-time) £32,878 per annum pro rata, plus excellent pension benefits Fixed Term until August 2022 (with the possibility of extension).

Bydd gennych chi’r angerdd a’r ysgogiad angenrheidol, a byddwch yn gwbl ymroddedig i hybu hawliau plant fel sylfaen i’ch gwaith, gydag ymrwymiad cadarn i egwyddorion a bwriad y ddeddfwriaeth newydd. Bydd y rhaglen waith yn canolbwyntio ar dri amcan canolog

• Datblygu cynllun ymgysylltu mewn ymgynghoriad â rhanddeiliaid perthnasol, gan gynnwys pobl ifanc

• Datblygu adnoddau perthnasol i ysgolion a sefydliadau eraill ar y newidiadau i’r gyfraith, wedi’u gwreiddio yng nghyd-destun hawliau plant a datblygiadau deddfwriaethol ategol.

• Datblygu cynllun cynyddu ymwybyddiaeth i helpu i hyrwyddo’r adnoddau a rhaeadru gwybodaeth am y newidiadau deddfwriaethol. Bydd deilydd y swydd yn ymgysylltu’n weithredol ag ystod o weithwyr proffesiynol a phobl ifanc yng Nghymru i lywio cynnwys y strategaeth a datblygiad adnoddau.
