Child Protection for Children and Young People with Disabilities

Disabled children face a higher risk of abuse and are less likely to receive the protection they need. This one-day course helps practitioners build confidence and skills in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, with a focus on child-centred practice. Course aims: - Recognise signs of abuse and neglect in disabled children - Apply key research and best practice guidance - Communicate effectively with children who have limited or no verbal communication - Understand relevant legislation and policy in Wales - Strengthen relationships with parents and carers - Respond safely and appropriately to concerns - Keep the child at the centre of safeguarding processes Who Should Attend: Practitioners and volunteers working directly or indirectly with children and young people, with safeguarding responsibilities.
