The gender wage gap, 30/08/16 [W/E/NI/S]

New research from the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), and funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) has highlighted the difference in wages women get compared to their male counterparts. Women are found to get 18% less an hour than men, with this growing to 33% less after having their first child.

This briefing note is the first output in a programme of work seeking to understand the gender wage gap and its relationship to poverty.
