Consultation on Children and Young People’s Continuing Care, 17/05/2019 [W]

The Welsh Government has opened a consultation on new draft Continuing Care guidance.

Continuing care means any complex physical or mental health care provided over a long period of time, which can’t be met by the Local Health Board or the Welsh Health Specialised Services.

The current continuing care guidance was written in 2012. This guidance doesn’t refer to important legislation that has been made since then, so it needs to be updated.

The Welsh Government has also been told by practitioners that the old guidance was too focused on ‘process at the expense of actual outcomes’. The new guidance aims to ‘put the child at the heart of the process.’

You have until 09 August 2019 to respond to the consultation.
