The End Child Poverty Network Cymru
ECPN Cymru is a coalition of concerned organisations focused on the eradication of child poverty in Wales, co-ordinated and managed on a day-to-day basis by Children in Wales. Its steering group include representation from across the voluntary and statutory sectors and the Network has an increasing supporting membership from a broad cross-section of agencies. Operational since 2001, the ECPN Cymru is supporting the Governments vision that no child in Wales should be living in poverty by 2020, and is working to achieve this by:
- Increased public and professional understanding of child poverty in Wales Public and professional support for measures to tackle child poverty
- Ensure that policies are in place at all levels of Government (local, Assembly and Westminster), which contribute to eradicating child poverty in Wales
Steering Group
The network is supported by a Steering Group which meets four times a year and agrees shared priorities for the Network. The meetings provide an opportunity for sharing information and knowledge, exploring joint working opportunities and gathering evidence of progress on current issues within the field. The Steering Group meet regularly with the relevant Welsh Government Ministers and officials.
Steering Group members include Barnardo’s Cymru, Children in Wales, Save the Children Wales, NEA Wales, Action for Children, NSPCC Cymru, Citizens Advice, Oxfam Cymru, Public Health Wales, Shelter Cymru, the Buttle Trust, Prince’s Trust Cymru, WLGA (observers), TUC Wales (observers) and the Office of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales (observers).
Activities
The ECPN Cymru has produced a number of reports, consultation responses and briefings which can be downloaded from the Resources section of this website.
Supporters’ Group
Children in Wales, on behalf of the ECPN Cymru, produce a monthly information bulletin highlighting all the latest news and policy relating to children and families affected by poverty.
