MEIC
Children in Wales is one of five organisations that successfully tendered for the contract to deliver the Welsh Government funded MEIC national advocacy, advice and information helpline for children and young people up to 25 years living in Wales. The MEIC helpine was set up in September 2010 and was extended to a 24-hour service in February 2011. Children in Wales chair the Cywaith Management Board which is responsible for overseeing the service alongside our partners, Tros Gynnal Plant, Voices from Care Cymru, NYAS and ProMo Cymru. We also work with the Welsh Government to raise awareness of the helpline and promote its use.
The helpline is the first of its kind on a national level. It provides children and young people with a single point of contact via telephone, text, instant messaging and email. The Helpline is bilingual and free to contact. It is a confidential and anonymous service, and provides information, signposting to other services and access to an independent professional advocate.
More information on the MEIC service can be accessed via meiccymru.org.
