Welsh Government launches Early Childhood Education and Care approach

The Welsh Government has launched a new approach to early childhood education and care.

The reform of the provision of early years care is aimed at creating a single, child-centred approach to early childhood education and care.

It is hoped that it will reduce the attainment gap between children from disadvantaged background and their peers.

The Welsh Government hopes that the reforms will allow parents and children better access to education and childcare in ways that meets their differing needs and circumstances.

The proposed change will occur over the next ten years, and the next step will be for the Welsh Government to produce a quality framework setting out the principles and requirements across the sector.
