Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Bill: Approach to Implementation, 29/01/14 [W]

Gwenda Thomas, Deputy Minister for Social Services, has made a statement about the implementation of the Social Services (Wales) Bill.

The Bill will reform social services in Wales, and provides a legal framework for the first time in Wales. It aims to make social services more sustainable financially and to focus on preventative measures and involving the public more in their care.

The Welsh Government’s intention is to fully implement the changes set out in the new legislation by the end of this Assembly term.

This statement explains the next steps that will be taken in social services reform, which will build on the engagement process to creating a new model of care for well-being. The statement can be viewed in full on the Welsh Government website.
