Fall in number of homeless families in Wales, 18/12/13 [W]

The latest statistics have shown a drop in the number of homeless families across Wales during 2012-13.

In the three months July-September 2013, there were 1,245 families accepted as homeless. This is a drop of 21% compared to the previous year.

The statistics come as the Housing (Wales) Bill makes it way through the legislative process in the National Assembly for Wales. The Welsh Government is aiming to tackling homelessness and improve the qualilty of rented housing.

An extra £100,00 has also been allocated for local authorities to help rough sleepers in cold weather this year.

You can find out more about the latest statistics from the Welsh Government website. The full text of the Housing Bill is available to view here.
