Would you like to know more about how to ensure that disabled children and young people are able to fully participate in making decisions about their lives?

Children in Wales has developed a range of tools to improve the well-being and increase the voice and control of disabled children and young people. They were developed as part of the Getting More Involved in Social Care Project which promotes the principles of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. However they can be used by a variety of professionals who want to learn how to more effectively engage with disabled children and young people.

The tools include:-
• An app which has been developed by disabled children and young people which informs other disabled children and young people about their rights and how to exercise them.
• A board game which encourages the individual to talk about what is important to them for their health, education, social life and other aspects of well-being.
• A good day / bad day tool which the individual can use to communicate to others what a good day looks like; what spoils it and conversely what a bad day looks like and what improves a bad day
• The solution machine which encourages the individual to navigate difficult decisions, take some responsibility for their well-being and focus on what they can change before involving services etc.
• Games cards which facilitate discussion about the individual’s rights and well-being

These events are free and space it limited

Friday 27th March, Llanelly House, Bridge Street, Llanelli SA15 3UF
