Children in Wales has developed a training programme in the delivery of various parenting programmes for professionals in Wales. We are currently able to offer:

Living with Teenagers

This is an intensive two-day training course, which provides participants with the necessary skills to deliver the Living With Teenagers programme.  Participants are introduced to the basics of group-work theory and the logistics of setting up a group. They experience at first hand many of the exercises used during the delivery of the programme.  In addition attendees receive a comprehensive manual detailing content of all the sessions, along with a number of useful hints on delivery.

Working with fathers

Over the past ten years, all UK social and care agencies have become increasingly aware of a huge need in our society.  It begins with a lack of father's involvement in post and antenatal care; absentee fathers; the low esteem and low academic achievement levels of boys; the antisocial and damaging behaviour of teenagers; and the lack of good male role models.  These are complex and difficult issues, each family is different and each case needs care and attention.  However, we know that these issues need to be addressed as a matter of urgency, and that solutions and ways of working with fathers need to be found.   We offer this course as a start in that process, we have devised it as experienced fathers and workers in the social care fields.  The course will encourage debate and will focus attention on the ways of engaging fathers, which are of direct benefit to their children, to their partners, and to society as a whole.

Details of forthcoming courses are available in Events Section or Tel 029 2034 2434 for more informaiton
