Children in Wales co-ordinates a number of forums and networks across Wales. These forums and networks provide members with a chance to get together to exchanging information, share good practice, and network with others in their field. Members of forums are also able to raise issues of concern relating to a range of policy areas which Children in Wales can channel through to policy makers.
Our current Forums include:
All Wales Children & Young People’s Research NetworkThe network encourages and develops all aspects of research for the benefit of children and young people in Wales.
All Wales Children and Young People’s Advocacy Providers & Practioners GroupThis group promotes partnership work and developmental strategies between organisations, facilitates problem solving and promotes the UN Convention and Children’s Rights generally.
Children and Young People’s Participation in Cymru Network (CYPPiC) This network has been developed with the Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services (CWVYS). It enables representatives from Councils for Voluntary Services the opportunity to improve knowledge, offer mutual support and understanding and discuss issues in order to enhance their work within Children and Young People’s Partnerships.
Children's Rights Practice Exchange NetworkThe Children's Rights Practice Exchange group holds quarterly meetings in North and South Wales for those involved in advocacy, consultation and participation with children.
Early Years and Childcare Advisory GroupThis group concentrates specifically on the needs of the under eights and their families, and works with a wide range of organisations from all sectors. The group aims to raise public awareness of the needs and entitlement of all young children and their families and to influence public policy and bring about change.
Fatherhood Wales ForumThis group meets four times a year to provide practice exchange, an opportunity for members to respond to consultations, and to promote the importance of fathers in the lives of their children.
Fforwm Magu Plant (Parenting Forum)This forum aims to be the national voice for parents in Wales, supporting them in their parenting role, to share information, make research available and to link policy on all levels.
Forum on Issues for Disabled Children and Young PeopleA multi-agency group that meets to share information and good practice, support, stimulate development and lobby for issues relating to disabled children and young people in Wales.
Integrated Children's CentresThe Integrated Children’s Centres Network this network is facilitated by Children in Wales to provide a point of contact for Integrated Children’s Centres in Wales. It is working to produce common goals for the whole of Wales and develop a framework for monitoring and evaluation to ensure quality standards.
Looking After Health ExchangeThis is a multi-agency group which aims to help guide policy across Wales to promote the health of children looked after. Children in Wales continues to host this group even though the project has come to an end
Men in Childcare Network (Wales)The network is a partnership between Children in Wales, the Department of Childhood Studies at Swansea University and Trinity College Carmarthen to encourage more men into the workforce working with children and young people.
North Wales Voluntary Organisations Support Group This group meets quarterly and includes individuals employed by voluntary organisations who work with children, young people and their families. The group comes together in order to identify, share and promote good practice and provide mutual support
The Participation Worker's Network for Wales (PWNW) aims to support workers and organisations in organising participative activities and make widespread participation a reality.
Sure Start NetworkChildren in Wales supports a Sure Start Network within Wales and has facilitated regular meetings of Sure Start coordinators.
Young Carers NetworkThe network meets four times a year, and is open to all young carers workers to share issues and concerns, and to develop good practice
Young Disabled People's NetworkAims to give young disabled people from across Wales opportunities to: Meet and have fun , understand their rights , raise issues of concern, have a voice in decisions affecting them.
