Families Under Stress - Supporting Services in Europe
Families Under Stress - Supporting Services in Europe

The project was undertaken by the European Forum for Child Welfare, a former regional group of the International Forum for Child Welfare, in collaboration with:

  • National Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations, England;
  • NCH Cymru (Wales);
  • National Organisation for Social Care, Greece;
  • Barnardo's Ireland;
  • with support from Children in Wales.

It was researched and co-ordinated by Anne Williams, Independent Child Care Consultant, and funded by the European Commission.

The project aims to contribute to the social inclusion of vulnerable families in Europe. It set out to do this by reviewing the different types of support services which exist, sharing the histories of families who have experienced social exclusion and promoting principles of good practice. It concludes that the process of re-building confidence and self-belief is equally as important as the services themselves and the good practice principles reflect this empowerment model.

The report has been produced in English, French, German, Greek.
