The Proposed Learning and Skills (Wales) Measure Committee, 04/11/08 [W]

In its meeting of 4 November 2008, the Proposed Learning and Skills (Wales) Measure Committee took evidence from Sir Adrian Webb, who led the Independent Review of the Mission and Purpose of Further Education in Wales.

Points made during discussion included the following:

  • Sir Adrian believes that it is crucial to underpin the 14-19 pathway policy with a legal structure
  • legislation can only achieve certain things and successful implementation will be essential
  • in a rural context it may be necessary to deliver a large amount of the minimum curriculum very locally
  • basic skills are fundamental to avoid people being disenfranchised in the modern world

For full details, please read the Committee transcript.
