Council of Europe campaign against corporal punishment of children, 15/02/08 [W/E/NI/S]

The Council of Europe has launched a Europe-wide awareness-raising initiative against the corporal punishment of children.

The campaign will focus on:

  • the need to ban corporal punishment of children;
  • promoting positive parenting, or raising children in a non-violent environment.

Resources will include a media pack and an information pack.

The campaign is being launched through the Council of Europe’s "Building a Europe for and with children" programme, which aims to help all decisions makers and players concerned to design and implement national strategies for the protection of children's rights and the prevention of violence against children.

Further information on the campaign can be found on the Council of Europe’s website.
