National Curriculum Assessment Results published for 7, 11 and 14 year olds, 8/9/05 [W]

Provisional National Curriculum Assessment Results for 7, 11 and 14 year olds in Wales were published on 8 September 2005. The results for 7 and 11 year olds were derived from teacher assessment only, while those for 14 year olds include the results of both teacher assessments and statutory testing.  Compared to the equivalent results from 2004 the statistics show:

7 year olds

A higher percentage of 7 year olds achieved the expected level in English, while fewer achieved the expected level in Welsh.  The percentage achieving the expected level in Maths and Science remained constant.

11 year olds

A higher percentage of 11 year olds achieved the expected level in English and Maths, but fewer achieved the expected level in Welsh and Science.

14 year olds

A higher percentage of 14 year olds achieved the expected level in English, Welsh and Maths, however the percentage achieving the expected level in Science fell.

More information is available in the Assembly’s press release.
