The UK's four Children's Commissioners have released a joint statement expressing their deep concern about the serious negative impact the proposals in the Welfare Reform Bill will have on hundreds of thousands of children.
The Commissioners believe that the cap of £26,000 for family benefits, including housing and child benefits, will have a disproportionate effect on children, especially the most vulnerable.
The statement urges the Government to reconsider these changes and to respect their obligations to child welfare under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
