UK Government’s Guarantee for Young Unemployed People, 25/01/10 [W]

Peter Hain, Secretary of State for Wales, issued a press release on 25 January explaining that every young person in Wales who is unemployed for six months will be guaranteed the offer of a job, training or work experience thanks to the UK Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee. Figures show that  over 6,000 unemployed young people aged 18-24 in local communities right across Wales will be eligible to benefit from the guarantee straight away.

The guarantee offers:

  • the opportunity to apply for new jobs created through the £1bn Future Jobs Fund
  • extra training and support to get an existing job
  • work-focused training
  • a place on a Community Task Force
  • help with self-employment
  • internships for Graduates and non-Graduates.

More information is available on the Wales Office website.
