Changes in court rules to allow media attendance in the court, 22/04/09 [W/E]

Changes to the Court Rules, which will allow media access to certain aspects of Family Proceedings in the Courts, are due to come into force on 27 April 2009.

Accredited media will be able to attend all levels of Family Courts, removing the existing inconsistency of access between the higher and lower courts. Media representatives who attend family courts must be accredited by being holders of an UK Press Card.

These changes follow the Rt Hon. Jack Straw MP’s oral statement to the House of Commons and the associated consultation document "Family Justice in View".
