UK Council for Child Internet Safety Launched, 29/9/08 [W]

UK Council for Child Internet Safety was launched on 29 September 2008. The establishment of such a council was a key recommendation in Dr Tanya Byron’s Report, ‘Safer Children in a Digital World’.  The Council will be multi stakeholder forum which will enable those with an interest in Child Internet Safety to come together to develop a strategy for improving child internet safety.  The strategy is to be based on two core elements: better regulation in the form of voluntary codes of practice that industry can sign up to and better information and education for children, young people, parents and carers.

More information is available on the Department for Children, Schools and Families website.
