Legislative Competence Order: Provision of Mental Health Services

The progress of the proposed LCO on mental health services.

The proposed LCO relates to mental health legislation reform. It will enshrine in law specific patient rights including:

  • a right to assessment and treatment in a therapeutic setting before compulsion becomes the only safe option, and;
  • a right for patients to receive independent advocacy
