On 7 April 2011, The Domestic Fire Safety (Wales) Measure received Royal Assent. The Measure requires the provision of automatic fire suppression systems in new residential premises in Wales, including dwelling-houses, flats, care homes, residential schools and student halls of residence.
These requirements of the proposed Measure will only apply to any new residence once it is completed and occupied, and does not require new fittings to existing buildings.
