The Local Transport bill has reached Committee Stage in the House of Lords.
The Bill looks at important areas of public transport like local bus services and sets out proposals for a more consistent approach to local transport planning.
Lord Hanningfield tabled an amendment requiring local authorities to consult representatives of local transport users, including children and young people, when developing local transport plans.
However, the Government said that they consider that it is more appropriate for local authorities to decide which organisations they consult, and thus the amendment was withdrawn.
