The Education and Skills Bill has been introduced to Parliament.

This will transfer the following framework powers to Wales:

• Inspection of schools for the pre-16 age group (to complement the existing powers for inspection of post 16 education and training)
• Registration and regulation of independent schools in Wales.

The bill will also contain the legislation needed to implement key elements of the Leitch Review into the UK’s long-term skills strategy.
