The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill has had its second reading.
This bill will amend the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990 and the Surrogacy Arrangements Act 1985; and will make provision about the persons who in certain circumstances are to be treated in law as the parents of a child.
The Bill addresses regulation, embryonic sex selection, the welfare of the child, same-sex couples, restrictions on use of HFEA-collected data and increasing the scope of embryo research activities.
The Bill and Explanatory Notes can both be downloaded from Parliament’s website.
