Parenting Action Plan, 13/12/05 [W]

The Welsh Assembly Government published its Parenting Action Plan in December 2005. The plan sets out the Assembly’s proposals to support mothers, fathers and carers raising children in Wales. The aim of the plan is to:

  • Raise the profile of parenting in Wales
  • Extend the development of policies and services which support mothers, fathers and carers in Wales
  • Link with other policies and activities which are relevant to parenting
  • List the key actions to be taken by the Assembly Government

This will be done through:

  • Providing financial support through Cymorth
  • Developing information and advice services
  • Promoting Positive Parenting
  • Raising the profile of parenting in Planning Partnerships
  • Continuing to work with LEA’s and school governing bodies to promote parental involvement in schools
  • Offering support to specific groups of parents
