Youth Crime Action Plan Published, 15/07/08 [W/E]

The Home Office has published its Youth Crime Action Plan which provides an analysis of what the UK Government is going to do to tackle youth crime.

The plan proposes immediate action through a package of measures, some of which will apply to Wales. The Home Office will work with the Welsh Assembly Government via the All Wales Youth Offending Strategy to implement those aspects of the Action Plan which apply both in England and Wales and to discuss equitable funding arrangements.

The measures include:

  • tougher enforcement of legislation to remove at-risk children from the streets late at night
  • more work to tackle anti-social behaviour and underage drinking
  • new police enforcement tactics to ensure visible patrols during after-school hours

For further information, please read the Home Office’s press release or download the action plan from the Home Office’s website.
