Key results for 2008/09 and comparisons with 2007/08

Enrolments

The total number of HE enrolments at UK HEIs was 2,396,055, showing an increase of 4 per cent from 2007/08.
The number of HE enrolments at Welsh HEIs was 126,475, an increase of 1 per cent.
Full-time enrolments increased by 4 per cent and part-time enrolments decreased by 4 per cent.
At Welsh HEIs there were 65,555 first year enrolments, an increase of 3 per cent.
Full-time first year enrolments at Welsh HEIs increased by 5 per cent, and part-time first year enrolments showed no percentage change.

Qualifications Obtained

At UK HEIs there were 333,720 first degree graduates (no percentage change on 2007/08).
At Welsh HEIs there were 18,430 first degree graduates (A decrease of 2 per cent on 2007/08).
