Family Spending: A report on the 2007 Expenditure and Food Survey, 27/11/08 [W]

The latest National Statistics on family spending produced by the Office for National Statistics.

The key results for Wales for are as follows:

  • Wales had the second lowest average household expenditure per week out of the devolved countries and English regions (£403), ahead of the North East (£389). However, average household size differs in each region.  Average expenditure per person in Wales was higher than in the North East and the West Midlands (table A35).
  • Wales also had the second lowest average weekly household disposable income out of the devolved countries and English regions (£459), again ahead of the North East (£453) (table A44).  However, again due to differences in household size, the figure for weekly disposable income per person in Wales was also higher than that for Northern Ireland and the North West.
