Assembly Learning Grants Awarded to Welsh Domiciled Students in Further Education, 2007/08, 29/10/08 [W]

This Statistical Release presents information on the number of Assembly Learning Grants (ALGs) awarded to Welsh domiciled students in Further Education in academic year 2007/08.

Key points for 2007/08 from the release are:

  • 6,170 students in Further Education applied for an Assembly Learning Grant as at end July 2008, an increase of 2 per cent compared with 2006/07.
  • 5,140 applications were successful (83 per cent of applications), an increase of 9 per cent compared with the same point in 2006/07.
  • 75 per cent of all applications and 88 per cent of successful applications were from full time students.
  • £5.7 million has been paid to date to FE students in ALGs, an increase of 5 per cent compared with the same point in time in 2006/07.
