Education Maintenance Allowances Awarded in Wales 2007/08, 30/9/08 [W]

This Statistical Release presents information on the number of Education Maintenance Allowances (EMAs) awarded to students aged 16, 17 and 18 in further education in Welsh schools and further education institutions for academic year 2007/08.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • By 1st September 2008, a total of 33,290 EMA Wales applications had been received for 2007/08, an increase of 2% compared with 2006/07.
  • 31,180 (94 per cent) of applications received were approved, an increase of 3 per cent compared with 2006/07. 940 (3 per cent) of applications were rejected.
