Welsh Health Survey 2007, 18/09/08 [W]

The Welsh Assembly Government has published statistics on the health and health-related lifestyle of people living in Wales based on data from the Welsh Health Survey 2007.

Key points from the latest release include:

  • 69% of children were reported to have very good general health, 25% good, and 6% fair.
  • 20% of children were reported as having a long-standing illness, including 7% with a limiting long-standing illness.
  • 36% of children were estimated to be overweight or obese, including 20% obese.
  • 55% of children were reported as exercising for at least an hour on five or more days of the previous week, including 37% who did so every day.
  • 60% of children were reported as eating fruit every day, and 49% vegetables.
