Welsh Affairs Committee Report on Vulnerable Children LCO, 26/06/08 [W]

The Welsh Affairs Committee has published its report on the proposed Legislative Competence Order in Council (Social Welfare and Other Fields).

The purpose of the proposed Order is to extend the legislative competence of the National Assembly for Wales to make new laws for Wales by Measure in relation to vulnerable children.

In its report, the committee notes that the proposed Order would not allow the Welsh Assembly Government to introduce a Measure removing the defence of "reasonable chastisement" relating to the punishment of children.

Further information is available from the Committee’s press release.
