The Ministry of Justice has published a report that reviews the fees in child care proceedings and recommends their abolition.
The review used a combination of data analysis, interviews with national organisations with an interest in child safeguarding, and visits to local authorities across England and Wales.
The review concludes that the costs of bringing proceedings, including the court fees, can deter local authorities from bringing proceedings and therefore recommends abolition of the fees. The Government has accepted this conclusion.
The report is available to download from the Ministry of Justice website.
