A Snapshot of Autism Education Provision in Wales, 19/05/09 [W]

The National Assembly for Wales’ Cross-Party Autism Group has published a report which says that educational institutions in Wales are not meeting the needs of young people with autism.

The study is based on information based on 33 responses received to a questionnaire sent out to education providers with an autism specialism.

The group found that:

  • 75% of schools feel there is a lack of adequate local provision for the young people they support
  • 50% of schools find local cooperation difficult
  • 58% of schools do not feel there is adequate FE provision for young people on the autism spectrum in Wales.
