Getting on, getting ahead, 03/11/08 [W/E/NI/S]

The Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit has published a report which analyses the evidence base on social mobility.

'Getting On, Getting Ahead, a discussion paper analysing the trends and drivers of social mobility’ takes independent academic research and identifies key trends and drivers of social mobility.

The report identifies four key areas where the UK Government can have the most significant impact on improving social mobility:

  • early years provision of childcare;
  • education;
  • post-16 education and training; and
  • workplace skills.

The report can be downloaded from the Cabinet Office website.
