The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has published a study investigating territorial behaviour by young people.

The purpose of the research was to see whether this imposes significant constraints on their lives, and to consider the implications of this kind of behaviour for communities.

The research supports the idea that some of the most violent gangs have territorial origins.
