Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit, Barriers to Take-Up in Wales, July 08 [W]

This is the report of research considering the barriers to the take up of Council Tax Benefit (CTB) and Housing Benefit in Wales. The Welsh Assembly Government set up a working group to research the barriers to CTB take-up in Wales and to highlight and promote best practice, based on the experience of the local authorities that have successfully increased CTB take-up in recent years.

Across the UK Families with children have a particularly low level of take up of these benefits compared to other groups.

The report can be downloaded from the Welsh Assembly Government’s website, and comments from Minister for Social Justice and Local Government Brian Gibbons can be viewed in his press release of 6 October 2008.
