Safe Return: How to improve what happens when we refuse to give people sanctuary, 10/07/08 [W/E/NI/S]

The Independent Asylum Commission has published its second report of conclusions and recommendations in which it calls for Britain to stop detaining thousands of children of foreigners seeking asylum.

The commission also warned against the use of X-rays to assess young asylum seekers' age and called on the government to repeal a law that can be used to deny refused asylum seekers' families and to take their children into care.

The report can be downloaded from the Independent Asylum Commission website.
