The National Public Health Service for Wales has issued fresh guidance on the healthcare issues of asylum seekers.
The report updates 2006 NPHS Guidance on health issues and areas for practice development for asylum seekers and refugees. The update was required because of changing legislation / policy and the emergence of good practice.
The new guidance is part of the work plan of the Welsh Asylum Seeker and Refugee Health Advisory Group. This is an all-Wales body, chaired by the NPHS, on which a variety of statutory and voluntary organisations are represented.
The guidance considers the particular challenges posed by asylum seekers who are children.
The guidance is available to download from the NPHS website.
