Outcome of consultation on public law family fees, 21/04/08 [W/E]

Justice Minister Bridget Prentice has made a written ministerial statement on the outcome of a consultation on court fees in public law family proceedings.

A consultation on Public Law Family Fees was published in December 2007. 111 responses were received from local authorities, law professionals, the judiciary and other stakeholder bodies.
The government has decided proceed with the increases proposed in the consultation document. The Statutory Instruments were laid before Parliament on 9 April 2008. The consultation document proposed to increase substantially the fees for public law Children Act proceedings as well as to make changes to fees charged for Adoption proceedings.

The response to the consultation paper will be published in full within the next two months.

Further information is available from the Ministry of Justice website.
