Statement on Advocacy Services, 14/03/08 [W]

Jane Hutt, Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, has issued a written statement on the New Service Framework for the Future Provision of Advocacy Service for Children in Wales.

The statement announces the creation of a new National Independent Advocacy Board which will take an independent, strategic overview of the development and delivery of advocacy services in Wales, and the establishment of an Advocacy Development and Performance Unit within the Welsh Assembly Government.

The advocacy service will comprise of a new National Advocacy and Advice Service for all children and young people in Wales and a locally/regionally commissioned Integrated Specialist Advocacy Service to assist vulnerable children and young people.
