Update on the NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training) Strategy, 03/03/09 [W]

John Griffiths, Deputy Minister for Skills, has made an oral statement on the publication of the strategy and action plan for reducing the proportion of young people not in education, employment or training.

The statement lists the three elements of the strategy:

  • better systems, and making sure that there are efficient processes for identifying and engaging young people who are at risk of leaving education and training early;
  • wider choice and ensuring that there are a full range of learning options to meet the needs of young people;
  • and better support, namely learning support and careers advice and guidance.

The statement is available on the Welsh Assembly Government website.
