Iechyd Meddwl Cymru - A Well Being and Mental Health Service Fit For Wales, 06/06/08 [W]

Consultation ends: 02/09/08

The Welsh Assembly Government is inviting comments on a paper written by Professor Michael Williams on mental health services in Wales.

The paper was requested by Edwina Hart MBE AM, the Minister for Health and Social Services. The paper proposes that mental health services in Wales could become the responsibility of a single statutory body which would both plan and provide services.

The body would take over the mental health commissioning responsibilities of the 22 local health boards and local authorities, and provide hospital and community-based services.

The paper can be downloaded from the Welsh Assembly Government website.
