Voices and Choices: A proposed right for children to appeal to the Special Educational Needs Tribunal for Wales, 27/05/08 [W]

End of consultation: 03/10/08

The Welsh Assembly Government is consulting on proposals to develop the necessary mechanisms that will enable children to appeal to the SEN Tribunal for Wales.

This proposal accords with one of the Assembly Government’s "Core Aims": to ensure that all children and young people are listened to and treated with respect.

The National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence) (Education and Training) Order 2008, which gained Royal Assent in April, means that the National Assembly for Wales now has the power to legislate on Additional Learning Needs.

Children and young people are to be consulted through a series of facilitated workshops.
